Introduction
This leaflet, which has been checked for accuracy by our Medical Advisors, has been written for parents to give to their 7 - 10 year-old sons who are about to be circumcised; have just been circumcised; or who have asked what it is all about. It may also be suitable for boys just outside this age range.
It explains in child-friendly language why there appear to be two types of penis; the meaning of the word ‘circumcision’; why circumcision is performed; some of the problems which can be associated with having a foreskin; and what will be done if they are about to be circumcised.
Additionally, parents may wish to read this for themselves to assist them in personally explaining circumcision to their sons.
